Last night we took a trip to Ballard for dessert after a homemade meal. We heard that the Molten Chocolate Cakery, also known as Hot Cakes had some delicious desserts. Seems like lots of people heard the same thing, cause the line was out the door. With only three women working, the wait was a bit long. One woman made the desserts, the other one ran them out, and the third took orders and made coffee. Despite the slowish service, we were not disappointed. The place was too cute, and too homey for that. I mean, take a look at the cute packaging for all their products.
I ordered the day’s Sundae, which had their vanilla ice cream with popcorn toffee bits, caramel, whipped cream, and fried corn. S ordered the peanut butter molten chocolate cake. When our desserts arrived we were chomping at the bit to get started. At first we thought, “These desserts are tiny!” Each molten cake comes in a teeny tiny mason jar. We soon found out that there is a reason for that. The desserts are so decadent, rich, and delicious I’m not sure a body could take more than what is served.
So far, this place is one of my favorites. Seattle is definitely for stuffing your face with sweets!
